Reporting criteria

We apply thresholds to determine which natural and astronomical events are reported. The thresholds are periodically reviewed and adjusted based on solar cycle progression, user feedback, and global monitoring priorities.

Currently, we report:

• Earthquakes with magnitudes above 5.5
• C7+ solar flares
• All geomagnetic storm levels
• All solar radiation storm levels
• Volcanic eruptions based on significant ash height and aviation color code
• Asteroid approaches within 1 lunar distance
