Moderate M1.2 solar flare erupts at 12:43 UTC on November 7, 2026

A moderate M1.2 solar flare erupted at 12:43 UTC on November 7, 2026.

Today’s flares include several C-class events originating from region 4566. Notable flares were a C1.4 at 00:28 UTC, C5.9 at 00:53 UTC, C2.8 at 02:02 UTC, C5.5 at 07:35 UTC, and a C6.2 at 11:57 UTC, all from region 4566. No X-class or additional M-class flares have been confirmed in available event data today.

In 24 hours to 12:30 UTC on November 7, solar activity was at low levels, with numerous C-class flares observed. The largest was a C6.2 at 11:57 UTC. No Earth-directed CMEs were detected in coronagraph imagery.

Solar activity is expected to remain low, with a chance for M-class flares (R1-R2 – Minor to Moderate) and a slight chance for an X-class flare (R3 – Strong) through November 9, 2026.

Active sunspot regions presently observed on the Earth-facing solar disk include AR 4565 (N13W18 – Beta), AR 4566 (S06E19 – Beta-Gamma-Delta), AR 4567 (N18W70 – Beta), AR 4568 (S08E40 – Alpha), AR 4569 (S06E07 – Alpha), and AR 4570 (S13E59 – Alpha).

Over the past 24 hours, the greater than 2 MeV electron flux reached high levels with a peak of 4 631 pfu on November 6, while the greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels. The electron flux is likely to be at normal to moderate levels from November 7–9, and the proton flux is expected to remain at background levels through November 9.

During the past 24 hours, solar wind conditions reflected the influence of a negative polarity coronal hole high speed stream. The total magnetic field strength reached 15 nT, with Bz reaching as far south as -11 nT. Solar wind speed increased from about 350 km/s to 510 km/s. The solar wind environment is expected to stay enhanced due to continued coronal hole high speed stream effects over November 7–9.

Geomagnetic field activity was at quiet to unsettled levels over the past 24 hours. The geomagnetic field is likely to reach G1 – Minor geomagnetic storm levels, with a chance for G2 – Moderate storm levels, from November 7–9 due to the influence of a negative polarity coronal hole high speed stream.
