G1 – Minor Geomagnetic Storm Alert issued on November 7

A G1 – Minor Geomagnetic Storm Alert was issued on November 7, 2026, after the geomagnetic K-index reached 5. The alert became active at 19:45 UTC and covers the synoptic period from 18:00 to 21:00 UTC.

According to the official alert, areas primarily poleward of 60 degrees geomagnetic latitude may experience weak power grid fluctuations. Minor impacts on satellite operations are also possible. Auroras could be visible at high latitudes, including the northern tier of the United States such as northern Michigan and Maine.

The current G1 – Minor Geomagnetic Storm conditions are attributed to the continued influence of a negative polarity coronal hole high speed stream (CH HSS), which has enhanced the solar wind environment. These enhanced solar wind conditions are expected to persist through November 9, 2026.
