Electron 2 MeV Integral Flux Alert issued on November 6
An alert for Electron 2 MeV Integral Flux exceeding 1,000 pfu was issued by the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center on November 6, 2026, at 10:56 UTC. This continued alert began on November 1, 2026, at 13:02 UTC, and remains in effect. The maximum electron flux recorded yesterday was 2,197 pfu at 17:00 UTC on November 5.
Elevated levels of energetic electrons in the outer radiation belt can pose an increased risk of deep dielectric charging to satellites operating in geosynchronous orbit and may affect spacecraft electronics reliability. The continued high flux values exceed the 1,000 pfu threshold and can have operational implications for satellites and space-based technological systems.
According to the latest SWPC forecast discussion, the greater than 2 MeV electron flux has reached high levels and is expected to continue at these elevated values on November 6, before returning to moderate levels on November 7-8. No significant increase in proton flux was recorded, and geomagnetic and solar wind conditions remained largely nominal during this period.
