Electron 2 MeV Integral Flux Alert issued on November 3, 2026

An alert for electron 2 MeV integral flux exceeding 1,000 pfu was issued on November 3, 2026, by the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center. The alert, in effect since November 1, 2026 at 13:02 UTC, notes that maximum flux levels reached 4,481 pfu at 15:40 UTC on November 2, 2026. High electron flux events such as this typically indicate increased levels of energetic electrons at geosynchronous orbit.

The elevated electron flux environment can present increased risk for satellite operations, particularly with respect to internal charging and deep dielectric discharge on satellite components. This may also increase background noise in spacecraft instrumentation and impact high-frequency communications in polar regions. Operators are advised to implement recommended mitigation procedures during such elevated conditions.

According to the latest forecast discussion issued by NOAA SWPC, solar activity over the period was very low, with the main events being B-class solar flares from Region 4566 and a filament eruption associated with a CME on November 1, 2026. The persistent high electron flux is forecasted to continue through November 5, 2026, while proton flux remains at background levels.
