Electron 2 MeV flux alert issued on August 26, 2026

An alert for Electron 2 MeV Integral Flux exceeding 1,000 pfu was issued on August 26, 2026, by the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center. This ongoing alert began on August 21, 2026, at 11:05 UTC, and remains in effect as observed flux levels continue to exceed threshold values. The maximum recorded flux was 1,039 pfu at 08:05 UTC on August 26, 2026.

Elevated electron flux at this scale may increase the risk of satellite charging, potentially impacting satellite operations and spacecraft systems operating within affected regions. Such conditions can also cause minor anomalies or data errors for satellites in geostationary and other high-altitude orbits.

According to the latest NOAA SWPC forecast, electron flux at these high levels has been observed recently, with a peak value of 1,610 pfu noted on August 25, 2026. The current period of high electron flux is expected to persist through August 27, before returning to more moderate levels on August 28.
