Ash cloud from Etna volcano observed at 4.3 km altitude, Italy

An ash cloud from Etna volcano, Sicily Volcanic Province, Italy, was observed at 4.3 km (14 000 feet) altitude at 13:00 UTC on August 15, 2026, according to the Toulouse Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC).

The advisory stated the eruption began at 00:18 UTC on August 7 and subsequently stopped. Satellite imagery and VONA reports identified the ash cloud, which was moving north at about 30 km/h (15 mph). The Aviation Color Code was orange. The advisory noted that the eruption was not significant and quantitative volcanic ash analyses were not provided.
